Tanzania's e-Visa scheme serves its purpose to make the application seamless and straightforward in November 2018. E-Visa application allows eligible travelers to apply online and eliminate the need to go to an embassy or consulate. This process makes it easier for certain nationalities to gain entry into Tanzania. Requirements depend on the type of Visa they need. All travelers have to declare the purpose of their visit.

To complete the application online, applicants must obtain all required documents. This process needs a valid email address. All verification, notification, status, and e-Visa results will go to the email used upon application. A credit card is also necessary for the payment of the visa fee. In rare cases, some applicants may have to visit a consulate to get a travel authorization in Tanzania.

Border authorities will check the documents presented upon arrival at the airport and have the right to refuse entry if the traveler missed meeting the standard requirements.

Travelers may only apply for e-Visa if their point of entry is one of the following:

• -      Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA)
• -      Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA),
• -      Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (AAKIA)
• -      Namanga land border at Kenia
• -      Tunduma land border at Zambia

These are the following requirements you need to apply for Tanzania Tourist Single-entry E-Visa:

• A passport with at least six months validity and one empty page available; scan or photocopy the bio-page of your passport
• Digital passport-sized photograph of the applicant
• tinerary of your trip in Tanzania; Roundtrip ticket to and off Tanzania; if a Tanzania resident sponsored your visit, you must present either of the following:
  • -      The national ID of the local sponsor;
  • -      Passport of the local sponsor; or
  • -      Residence permit of the local sponsor

Tanzania Business E-Visa application is available online for foreigners conducting professional training, special visit, or short-term assignment within 90 days.

Applicants must submit these additional documents to complete the Tanzania Business E-Visa application:

• A valid passport minimum of six months
• Digital passport-sized photograph of the applicant
• A cover letter that indicates a professional visit to Tanzania
• Business license of the sponsor company
• Sponsor company's Certificate of Compliance
• Sponsor company's Tax Identification Number

Multiple-entry e-Visa application is also available online. It allows eligible foreigners to stay in the country for a year for business demands. Multiple-entry e-Visa holders must exit the country every three months.

Here are the requirements one must need to get Tanzania Multiple-entry e-Visa:

• A valid passport; scan or photocopy the bio-page of your passport
• Digital passport-sized photograph of the applicant
• If a Tanzania resident or company sponsors your visit, you must present a photocopy of their passport
• A cover letter that indicates a professional visit to Tanzania
• Business license of the sponsor company
• Sponsor company's Certificate of Compliance
• Sponsor company's Tax Identification Number
• Company's Business company
• Employment contract indicating the agreement between you and a Tanzanian resident/company

Foreigners transiting through Tanzania going to a different country may need to get Tanzania Transit E-Visa online. The period of stay should not exceed seven days. Eligible applicants may have to present a valid visa of their target country.

• Digital passport-sized photograph of the applicant
• Itinerary of your trip in Tanzania; Roundtrip ticket to and off Tanzania

Guideline for Tanzania E-visa Application Online

With easy access to the internet, You can complete the e-Visa application through your phone or laptop. Ensure you fill out all the necessary fields. Personal information must match the details in your passport to avoid hiccups in your e-Visa application. Refer to the requirements mentioned above for the type of Visa you need. Photocopy or scanned documents must be clear. Formats of the photo are JPEG and PNG and must not exceed 300KB. Supporting documents should be PDF and must not exceed 1MB. Start of the Application

You need to set-up a security question for verification purposes. The system will generate an Application ID to save your details securely if ever you encounter problems during the application. Kindly take note of your Application ID before you proceed to the next step.
