Northern Cyprus, officially known as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), is a de facto state recognized only by Turkey. Foreigners who wish to travel to Northern Cyprus may need to obtain a visa depending on their nationality and purpose of travel.
Nationals of Syria, Nigeria, and Armenia need to apply in person at a TRNC Embassy, Representative Office, or Consulate General abroad to obtain a visa prior to their travel to Northern Cyprus. Foreigners visiting Northern Cyprus may be granted a visa for up to 90 days, depending on its type, at the designated ports and border crossings provided that they fulfill the conditions stipulated in the Aliens and Immigration Law and they are not deemed unfit to enter the country. The length of stay granted at the designated ports and border crossings of Northern Cyprus cannot exceed 90 days within a period of 180 days. Foreigners who wish to stay in Northern Cyprus for more than 90 days are required to obtain a residence permit.
Entry to and departure from Northern Cyprus is possible through designated ports and border crossings with a valid passport or travel document. The type and duration of the visa issued to foreigners is stamped on the travel document by the Immigration Officers.
