Obligation to keep records
The sponsor, as the person seeking approval as a parent sponsor, understands and acknowledges that if they are approved as parent sponsor, they must keep records (if any) in a reproducible format as specified by the Department from the day the sponsorship as a parent sponsor is approved until two years after the approval ceases.
Obligation to give information to the Department when certain events occur
The sponsor, as the person seeking approval as a parent sponsor, understands and acknowledges that if they are approved as parent sponsor, they must provide details of certain events to the Department within 28 days of the event occurring, including:
changes to the information provided to the Department whether in the person's application for approval as a family sponsor or otherwise;
a person is charged with, or convicted of, an offence;
a debt the person has incurred to the Commonwealth becomes overdue;
a person becomes the subject of an apprehended violence order, or a similar order, issued under a law of a State or Territory or a foreign country;
a person sponsored by the sponsor dies
Obligation to pay outstanding public health debt of sponsored person
The sponsor, as the person seeking approval as a parent sponsor, understands and acknowledges that if they are approved as parent sponsor, they:
Are responsible for any expenses incurred by a sponsored person arising from treatment received in a public hospital or other public-health facility, and/or a provision of aged care service received by the sponsored person, that they have not paid for.
As the responsible person, they must pay in full any public health debt incurred by the sponsored parent.
Are aware that the relevant Commonwealth, state or territory health authority will inform the Department when the public health debt has either been repaid, or arrangements have been made for the repayment of the debt.
