The next thing a traveler needs after a passport to travel to a new territory is a visa. Visa is stamped on a passport and is a certification that the holder can enter, stay within, or leave the territory of the government that issues the visa. To travel to Estonia travelers would need a visa as well. And for that they must obtain it from the embassy of Estonia situated at their own country land. Or they might obtain it by applying online for an e-Visa and simply fill up an online form and wait for the visa to reach their hand. To apply for a visa one must have prior knowledge about the types of visas there are. Not all visas provide the same service. Their type varies depending on the purpose of their holder’s visit. There are:

  • Nomad Visa: The visa issued for a short and temporary visa. It is also called a remote worker visa. The purpose of its holder is generally to work on the lands of Estonia. The duration of this visa can be extended to 1 year.
  • Schengen Visa: Some states under the Schengen Area of the European Union Member state demand a schengen visa from its visitors. For visiting Estonia one can get a Estonian Schengen Visa too.
  • C Visa: For any short term visit or a visit of 90 days or less requires a C visa.
  • D Visa: For any long term or a visit extending 90 days required a D Visa.

To apply for an e-Visa for Estonia one must first visit the official website of the government of Estonia and find the online form of visa application. They must have their passport valid and at hand. The validity of the passport must be more than six months. They must have other information at hand too. In no scenario must they provide any inauthentic or wrong information. Otherwise the visa application will be canceled or revoked. The information provided for Visa must be similar to the information provided for passport. To understand the form better follow the instructions given and act accordingly. EU citizen’s family members, irrespective of their nationality, have the right to accompany or join EU citizens in a Member State other than that of EU citizen’s nationality.

The collection of your personal data required by this application form, the taking of your photograph and the taking of your fingerprints are mandatory for the examination of your visa application. Failure to provide such data will result in the rejection of the application.

The legal basis for the collection and processing of your personal data are set out in Regulation (EC) No 767/2008 (VIS Regulation), Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 (Visa Code) and Council Decision 2008/633/JHA.

The data, as well as data concerning the decision taken on your application or a decision whether to annul, revoke or extend a visa issued will be entered into, and stored in the Visa Information System (VIS) for a maximum period of five years, during which it will be accessible to the visa authorities and the authorities competent for carrying out checks on visas at external borders and within the Member States, immigration and asylum authorities in the Member States for the purposes of verifying whether the conditions for the legal entry into, stay and residence on the territory of the Member States are fulfilled, of identifying persons who do not or who no longer fulfil these conditions, of examining an asylum application and of determining responsibility for such examination. Under certain conditions the data will be also available to designated authorities of the Member States and to Europol for the purpose of the prevention, detection and investigation of terrorist offences and of other serious criminal offences.

Your personal data might also be transferred to third countries or international organisations for the purpose of proving the identity of third-country nationals, including for the purpose of return. Such transfer may only take place under certain conditions (Article 31 of Regulation (EC) No 767/2008).
