Brazilian eVisa Application Form Process
Being the largest country in South and Latin America, Brazil is known to be special for its exemplary carnival festivals. If you are planning to visit Brazil for tourism, study, commerce, business, exhibition or any other purpose, there are some rules and regulations, conditions, terms and requirements that you need to know. We are here with a directory to apply for a Brazilian visa in 2021.
Visa Requirements
You will require the following documents and their scanned copies to apply for a visa.
- An invitation for a stay in Brazil by an authority/party residing in Brazil
- An updated passport with some blank pages
- A picture of you against a plain white background
Visa Types
Following are the visa types that are available for a visit to Brazil.
- 1. Visit Visa (VIVIS)
This visa is issued upon the foreigners you travel to Brazil and stay up to 90 days without any purpose of immigration or paid activity. There are several subsections of Visit Visa. They are described below.
- Tourist Visa
This visa is issued to foreigners who intend to travel to Brazil for the purpose of tourism and sightseeing.
- Non-US Tourist Visa
This is a tourist visa for foreigners residing outside the US.
- Business visa
This visa is issued to foreigners who intend to travel to Brazil for the purpose of commerce and business.
- Non-US Business Visa
This is a business visa for non-US foreigners.

- 2. Temporary Visit Visa (VITEM)
Temporary Visit Visas are granted to foreigners who wish to reside in Brazil for a specific amount of time based on his/her purpose/activity in Brazil. This visa can be categorized into the following purposes:
- Work Visa
Foreigners who intend to stay inside Brazil's territory for a number of days/months depending on his/her work. It can be for voluntary work, medical work, investor work, research work, or any other type of work.
- Student Visa
A student visa is issued to foreign students studying in Brazil for a certain period of time, depending on the completion of his/her course of study.
- Diplomatic Visa
A Diplomatic Visa is granted to foreign employees and authorities having diplomatic status who travel to Brazil on an official mission. It can also be termed as an Official Visa.
- Courtesy Visa
This visa is granted to foreigners who are on an unofficial trip to Brazil. The applicants do not benefit from Diplomatic or Official Visa.
- Others
There are other types of visa which are granted for the activities including- health care, economic, scientific, technological or cultural relevance, family reunification, international agreements, etc.
- Work Visa
- 3. E-Visa
This is a new system through which an applicant can apply for his/her required visa through online platforms. He/she has to provide information in the form online along with some scanned copies of the required documents. Until now, this system is available for the citizens of Australia, Canada, the United States and Japan.
Visa Exempt Countries
The citizens of the following countries do not require a visa to visit Brazil. The duration of stay differs among them. In some cases, an identity document/national ID card is needed. The chart below mentions all the visa-exempt countries/territories for a Brazilian visa along with the allowed duration of stay.
