Hong Kong SAR has removed COVID-19 travel restrictions and contact tracing policies, according to Health Secretary Lo Chung-mau. Effective December 14, passengers arriving in Hong Kong will no longer receive an "amber code" for the first 3 days, allowing them access to bars and restaurants upon arrival. 

The requirement to scan a health app for public venues has also been lifted, but a vaccine pass will still be necessary for entry into certain locations like restaurants. 

Additionally, travel to Macau and mainland China from Hong Kong will be relaxed to align with mainland China's policy. The removal of these restrictions aims to revive economic and social activities in the region.

The removal of many of Hong Kong's travel restrictions comes in the wake of China's recent decision to shift away from its strict zero-Covid approach, which had been in place since the beginning of the pandemic. In September, Hong Kong had already started easing restrictions by eliminating the mandatory quarantine requirement for incoming travelers.
