Due to the global pandemic, air traffic all over the world had stopped for a certain amount of time, and as a result citizens of many countries who were currently visiting foreign lands got stuck in that land far from their family and friends.
To solve such a problem, The Central Government of India launched the ‘Vande Bharat Mission’ on 6th May of 2020 to help stranded Indians all over the world to reach their destinations by means of international repatriation flights.
According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Air India Group supervised 14,114 repatriation flights prior to the 15th of January. More than a number of 18.25 lakh passengers were boarded on these flights where 7.052 flights with 11.42 lakh passengers headed for India and 7,062 flights with 7.53 lakh fliers flew to foreign lands.
At the moment Phase-9 is in continuation and will be resuming until 1st February 2021.
